Homebuyer Tax Credit is Extended to 2010

We are happy to announce it is still possible to take advantage of the "First Time Homebuyers Tax Credit." Read more about the details of the program at Builder magazine, the credit has been extended to include buyers that have lived in their home for at least five years.

First day at Maui Contractor's Show

We had a big first day at the show, getting our displays up just in
time! We built a custom bifold panel system with decorative bamboo
plywood to showcase our models. Attendees were impressed by the
quality of the designs and the value we are able to offer in the
package. We also explained the option of expedited permitting to allow
for an easy process.

There was also a tremendous amount of interest in our Kula Ridge
project, which features the Kama'aina Homes models in an affordable
house and lot package. Kula Ridge will be submitting a 201H
application to the Maui County Council this summer, so if you would
like the opportunity to purchase an affordable home upcountry, please
email morgan@kamaainahomes.com and we will add you to our interest
list. It would be especially helpful if you are welling to testify on
behalf of our project, so the County Council members can understand
the urgency of providing affordable housing to Maui's families. Many
of the people we spoke with today at the show explained the connection
they had with upcountry Maui; they grew up in Kula or would like to
help their children find a home in the area.

MAUI CONTRACTOR'S SHOW

FIRST TIME HOMEBUYER CREDIT UPDATE

The Federal Housing Administration announced that it will allow borrowers to use their First Time Homebuyer tax credit toward their closing costs when applying for an FHA loan. Borrowers will still need to provide a 3.5% downpayment. For more details, see the article featured in Builder magazine, or download the mortgagee letter from the FHA.

We've had an outstanding response to our first few days of publishing our website, a big mahalo to everyone who registered! We feel that we can offer something different than the typical "production" home-- an architecturally-designed plan that harkens back to Maui's early plantation days. Although our plans are compact to be affordable in price, we have endeavored to include a number of "big home" features: a large entry porch, an open country kitchen, and generous-sized bedroom and storage areas.
